Hey everyone, CD here. I usually write all of my music news along with other blog type things on facebook and occasionally elsewhere. I've come to realize that this isn't necessarily the best way to go about things, especially in regards to this website. So, I've decided to include all music news here first, and direct whatever social media here.
Back in late December I was involved in a car crash driving home from a senior living center Christmas performance. The most significant injury was that the right foot desperately pressing on the brakes at the moment of impact had a crumple zone similar to the car. Thanks to some Good Samaritans on the scene (medical staff going home after a shift, a fire captain out on the road) I was pulled out of the car before it caught fire. I had to beg and plead for my Gibson es-335 to be pulled out before being burnt up, but a not insignificant amount of gear and the fully paid for, but minimally insured Chevy Sonic went up in a spectacular wall of flame.
While it was still an overall financial set-back, and there is a Gofundme page still up on my behalf.
For a few weeks, including some crucial ones in Tacoma and Memphis, TN I had to play seated and use a cane and a “boot”. While that went away quickly, now 8 months out, if I still stand too long, bend my foot too much or step too hard, or have to suddenly brake in Seattle traffic (most frequent of these) …it can make for a long day or two.
But I'm out here… we've had a good summer with some festival dates behind us and more coming up. I'm hoping to share some of those details soon. We're also occasionally making progress with studio recordings. New drummer Jonathan Sayre is doing brilliant stuff with us, and well, I can brag that “I get to play with these guys.”
Expect cool things coming, and more frequest updates to this corner of the web-o-sphere.
